Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler Planning Joint Solo Tour (7/9/2005)

BLACK SABBATH members Tony Iommi (guitar) and Geezer Butler (bass) are said to be planning a joint North American tour this fall in support of their respective solo releases. The trek will take place after BLACK SABBATH finish headlining the 10th anniversary Ozzfest tour and will follow a run of SABBATH's post-Ozzfest U.S. headlining dates with BLACK LABEL SOCIETY as support.

Butler's first album in eight years, "Ohmwork" was released in May via Sanctuary Records. His first project under the GZR banner was 1995's "Plastic Planet" while 1997's "Black Science" was credited to GEEZER. Guitarist Pedro Howse has worked on all three Butler solo band albums, while vocalist Clark Brown performed on "Black Science" and also appears on the new CD. The group's latest addition is drummer Chad Smith (not the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS man).

BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi's new solo album, "Fused", is scheduled for release on July 12 via Sanctuary.

Joining Iommi on "Fused" is former DEEP PURPLE vocalist/bass guitarist Glenn Hughes and former JOHN MELLENCAMP drummer Kenny Aronoff, who has also played sessions with the likes of THE ROLLING STONES, BOB DYLAN, ROD STEWART, ALICE COOPER, BOB SEGER, LYNYRD SKYNYRD and countless others. The CD cover was designed by U.K.-based designer Hugh Gilmour, who has previously worked on covers for BLACK SABBATH, DEEP PURPLE, IRON MAIDEN, MOTÖRHEAD, DAVID BOWIE and THE BEATLES, among others.
