Recorded
for manager Jim Simpson, for his love of Jazz music. Rumor has it that a 5
track demo album was made just for him entitled "For Jim". Parts of
this song can be heard on a video released in 1992 entitled "The Black
Sabbath Story - Volume 1".
Update: A recording from 11/16/69 at Rugman's Youth Club, Whitesands,
Dumfries, Scotland was recently found which contained a full live version of
this song. Unfortunatley, the show was sold to Ozzy and his management and
will probably never see the light of day.

When I Come
Down / The Wizard (Rough Demo)
Unreleased
Song7" Acetate
Discovered in
2003. On the A side is a track entitled "When I Come Down" and is
believed to have been recorded at studio’s in Birmingham between March and
October 69. The song is described as short but boasting strong vocals and
magnificant guitar sounds. It begins with a bluesy, pentatonic riff and
although the guitar gets rather lost in the mix, the overall feel
approximates to a slower take on Evil Woman, while much of the rhythm is like
NIB, set up in half time to the riff. The track was written by locomotive
keyboardist Norman Haines, although no keyboards appear on the track. On the
B-side is a rough demo of the Wizard in which the guitar is lost in the mix,
and boasts a loud harmonica.

Devil's
Island(Recently discovered that this
was an early title for "Sleeping Village")
Unreleased Song
Recorded on
11/11/69 for BBC 1's "Top Gear with John Peel". This was a show
which featured various bands of the era. Bands were invited to record in the
BBC studios at Delaware Road in Maida Vale, London, England and the songs
would be broadcast a few weeks later. The initial broadcast of this show on
11/29/69 only included 3 of the 4 songs which were recorded this day which
were "Behind The Wall Of Sleep", "Black Sabbath" (with
extra verse) and "NIB". The 2nd broadcast on 3/21/70 included
"Devils Island". The well known 3 songs recorded this day were
later released on "The Ozzman Cometh" as basement
tapes.
